Solomon Islands Water Authority (SIWA) trading as Solomon Water wishes to inform its valued customers that its maintenance teams have just completed major repairs and upgrade works on 300mm pumping main from Kongulai pum and the Ngossi borehold pump stations.
The repair and upgrade work started on the morning of Saturday 29 September 2018 but could not be completed as scheduled due to heavy rain and the rough terrain inland, hindering work and slowing down progress.
Solomon Water Acting General Manager, Mr. Joe Sanga, said "as a result of the works, more than 60 percent of the township was affected with water outage or low water pressure. Water rationing was carried out but was only possible for some areas in town. All repairs and upgrade works at Kongulai have now been completed and the water systems have been turned on."
Mr. Sanga said Solomon Water expects full restoration of the water supply to customers by 6:00PM this evening.
SIWA apologises for the inconvenience but appreciates your understanding during the disruption period.
SIWA also calls on the good people of Honiara to refrain from water theft or illegal tampering of water lines and be responsible to look after our properties.
